Georgia Tech Lorraine
GTL in the future
The future of GTL is bright. As higher education, research, and innovation become more and more global, GTL provides more and more opportunities to achieve goals that would not be reachable without such a platform.
Recognition: The reputation of Georgia Tech and GTL will continue to grow as we create a Georgia Tech Lorraine Advisory Board that will engage powerful constituencies in the future of GTL.
Networking and Support: The 1400 GT alumni currently living in Europe will establish a striving network, through the Alumni Association and de GT-Club de France, helping and shaping the Georgia Tech brand in Europe, and networking with key players in industry and government. They will help create a Georgia Tech Lorraine Foundation, which will enable sustainable growth of GTL.
Education: We will continue to enrich the overall experience of all GTL students (US French, and from other nations) , seeking new partnerships with top programs in Europe, and increasing opportunities for work abroad and international Plan students.
Research: The GT-CNRS UMI 2958 international laboratory will continue on its fast climb to become a world leader in its technological niche areas, opening opportunities for new sources of funding and partnerships between the very best research groups in Europe, GTL, and the Atlanta campus.
Commercialization and Economic Development: Our goal is to establish the Lafayette Institute by the end of 2010. It will provide a unique platform to engage industrial partners, GTL and other R&D labs to solve technological problems, remove barriers and facilitate commercialization of optoelectronic and nanophotonic devices, creating an ecosystem favorable to the emergence of a high tech industrial environment near GTL.
Infrastructure: With its recent growth, the GTL facilities are at capacity. GTL must find ways to expand its facilities in the next few years.
